How important is a garden to you?
In the summer months, we find the demand from buyers for home with gardens and private outdoor space really goes up. It has grown even more since the pandemic, when we all re-learned their value – whether as a refuge to relax in or an opportunity to extend our homes with garden offices and outdoor entertaining areas.
It is interesting to see how the new build homes have now recognised this fact. Many people used to complain that the gardens on more modern homes were small, as developers tried to fit as many homes on a site as possible, however in more recent times evidence shows they have actually started to build homes with larger gardens.
Take a look at the above infographic. Compared to 10 years ago, gardens of new build detached homes are 18% larger today. For semi-detached homes they have grown by 20% and in terraced houses, by 10%. This has to be good news!
